Summer in Westendorf
A beautiful church, a picture book village centre, a lively farming economy, intact natural landscape and opportunities for sport and relaxation were the basic requirements for participation in the contest. The "Entente" Committee stated that Westendorf is a village that is proud of its tradition's, values its precious natural landscape and yet is open to the challenges of the future. These values still have the same meaning today as then, and Westendorf does indeed strive to remain true to these principles.
Only 300m from the center there is the "Alpenrosenbahn" to the Talkaser (1.770m). Not only can you enjoy mountain biking, hiking, tracking, nordic walking, paragliding, tennis and cycling but why not just take a relaxing stroll along one of Westendorf's many kilometres of walking paths in pure beauty, taking you past traditional old farm houses where the fields are so green, up to mountain pastures and huts and between the shady forests you will find the ideal resting place.
To cut it short Westendorf offers ideal landscape pictures that are becoming a rarity. The impressive mountain world up to 2400m along with the wonderful "Windau Valley", which is a jewel of nature, is a completely endless walkers paradise.
Winter in Westendorf

The Alpenrosenbahn (only 300m from center), will take you up into a wide popular area for skiers - with the highest pistes of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental. The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental is Austria´s largest interconnected ski area!
The 8-seater gondola named "Ki-West" is the connection to the popular ski area Kitzbühel/Kirchberg. There is skiing here for everyone, with a network of blue and red runs on beautiful wide slopes. For the experts a black run and deep snow terrain are waiting to be tried. Families and cruisers feel really at home in Westendorf there are lots of suitable runs and they are just right for the beginners too. Snowboarders can have a super time in the 'Fun Park', it's demanding as well as being great fun. Children are the kings here in Westendorf - there is an exemplary offer for them, some of the best ski schools with daily care and a selection of children friendly runs.
In this colourful mixture there is something for everyone, also for those whose sporty ambitions confine to tobogganing, ice skating, curling, snow shoe running, riding, walking or taking a comfortable ride in a horse drawn sleigh through the winter wonderland - just like pictures in a book.
A wide cross country track network branches out from Westendorf through the valley, joining tracks from neighbouring villages forming a never ending cross country circuit - pleasure guaranteed.
